WebUI – Intuitive operation in the browser
The new web interface allows easy administration without separate client installation – directly in the browser, even mobile. This allows configurations to be carried out in a location-independent and user-friendly manner.
Azure VM Integration – Agentless Snapshot Backup
SEP now supports 11 hypervisors! Artemis extends Azure VM integration with an optimized connection to Microsoft Azure. Instead of installing a separate SEP client in each Azure VM, the Azure VM API is used to create snapshot backups of the virtual machines directly in Azure Blob. These snapshots can then be downloaded and migrated to a local Hyper-V environment. This makes the backup process simpler, increases efficiency and enables seamless integration into existing IT infrastructures.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
To meet important requirements such as NIS-2 and other regulations, functionalities such as multi-factor authentication have been implemented. Two-factor authentication can be carried out via email, certificates or QR code with Google or Microsoft Authenticator.
CBSR – Crossover Backup Server Replication
Simplified backup server replication - Backups can now be replicated between SEP servers without direct communication. The target server reads deduplicated data directly – ideal for distributed locations and centralized backup management.
Disaster Recovery – Quickly back up and running
With new DR features, the recovery of the SEP sesam server is significantly simplified – directly from the cloud or in the cloud. This way, systems remain quickly available in an emergency.
Bandwidth limitation – performance is maintained
To ensure a responsive and productive IT environment, SEP sesam makes it easy to configure bandwidth limits directly in the backup software - all via a centralised interface. This keeps business-critical applications performing at all times while backup processes run in the background. Thanks to the integrated control, bandwidth utilisation can be flexibly adjusted without the need for changes to the router or additional third-part software. This ensures optimum utilisation of network capacity and maximum control over data traffic.
Resuming aborted file backups
This new function enables the reliable resumption of interrupted file backups – exactly where they were stopped. This saves time and increases efficiency.
SiS Package – Maximum Security for Immutable Storage
With the new, separate SiS package, we are setting new standards in safety. By deliberately removing all unnecessary functions, processes and libraries, the attack surface is drastically reduced. For maximum system security and stability.
Improved support for Proxmox VE backup and restore
For virtual machines in Proxmox VE, SEP sesam provides advanced integration when used with storage systems that support snapshot capabilities, such as LVM with thin provisioning, ZFS or Ceph RBD. Depending on which storage system is used, different backup methods are available - LVM, ZFS, and Ceph RBD. If storage types are mixed or no suitable method is available, VZDUMP captures the entire VM. Before performing backup, SEP sesam checks the disk configuration of the VM and if necessary, changes the selected backup method.
