High availability and stability at nine locations of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection thanks to UCS

The Federal Office for Radiation Protection in Germany introduced UCS in 2006 and recently updated to UCS 3.1 in May 2013, thus profiting from the Active Directory functions which are available in UCS thanks to the integration of the free software Samba 4.

The Univention solution now makes it possible to combine the proprietary Windows world efficiently with the free Linux world, as the 950 IT workstations at the nine locations predominantly employ Windows, while the majority of the servers run Linux. The authority’s high requirements for simple administration, stability, high availability and geo-redundancy are now perfectly fulfilled.
